Accreditation & Safety

Plas Menai has always set the highest standards in safety and professionalism. As well as operating within the guidelines laid down by the national governing bodies, the Centre is licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, which is required by anyone providing adventure activities for young people under 18. Safety procedures and risk assessments for all activities offered at Plas Menai are continually monitored.


RYA: Plas Menai is approved as a sea school and recognised as a training centre by the Royal Yachting Association, the UK governing body for sailing, powersports and windsurfing.
   

BCU/WCA:Plas Menai is an approved training centre by the British Canoe Union / Welsh Canoeing Association, the UK's lead body for kayaking and canoeing.
   
AALA: Under the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority, Plas Menai is approved and licensed to provide certain activities to young people under the age of 18 years. We are approved to provide sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing, orienteering, gorge walking, coasteering, climbing, hill walking for under 18-year olds.
   
BMF: Plas Menai is a member of  the British Marine Federation
   
MLA: Plas Menai is a member of Marine Leisure Association (the trade association for marine training, charter and holidays).
   
Wildlife SaFe: Plas Menai is WiSe accredited (WIldlife SafE). Our marine wildlife is amongst the most precious jewels in Britain’s wild crown, and should be treated with respect. Our staff have been trained by marine wildlife experts in species identification, life history and behaviour of a range of species that they might encounter and how to minimise disturbance to them. Our staff will help you make the most of any wildlife encounter whilst respecting the creatures we all love to see.

Quest: Plas Menai achieved a highly commended Quest management award on it's first ever assessment. The leisure industry award assesses management practices and standards across a range of leisure businesses, with Plas Menai being the first outdoor pursuits centre to be independently assessed by Quest
