Delivering the Sport Wales vision

Plas Menai is a Sport Wales National Centre which aims to increase the participation in sport across Wales, through the encouragement of participation in Watersports and Outdoor Activities.

Working closely with National Governing Bodies the Centre operates a full programme of skills based courses in sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, kayaking and cruising. These courses teach adults and young people the fundamentals of watersports in a safe and controlled environment, giving them the confidence and skills to pursue their chosen activity further.

Amongst its activities and in support of the Sport Wales goal of getting ‘Every Child Hooked on Sport for Life’, Plas Menai runs a variety of programmes specifically aimed at getting children active. These include weekend sailing, windsurfing and canoeing clubs, summer activity weeks and activity taster days. The Centre also manages busy programmes of school adventure activity courses and swimming lessons.

In its pursuit of ‘A Nation of Champions’ Sport Wales, through Plas Menai, has an unrivalled reputation for delivering some of the best watersports coach education training anywhere in the UK. In addition, the Centre works with Welsh and GBR sailing squads, helping to develop the next generation of World Class and Olympic sailing hopefuls.

The Centre also provides offices, conference rooms and facilities for National Governing Bodies of Sport.
