Working with the Community

At Plas Menai, we are keen to encourage people from all backgrounds and ages to visit the centre and experience the fun, adventure and excitement that watersports and outdoor activities can provide, in the hope that it will lead to a lifelong passion for an active lifestyle. Below is a brief outline of some of the services, facilities and programmes we provide for the local community.

Leisure Facilities

The centre has a number of leisure facilities that are open to the local community and general public to use, including a swimming pool, fitness room and mountain bike track.

Swimming Lessons & Swimming Programme

Plas Menai runs a full programme of swimming lessons for children and adults aswell as a public timetable with sessions for the general public, senior citizens, parents and toddlers and ladies only. See swimming pool for the full programme.

Activity Clubs

The centre runs a number of weekend activity clubs aimed at young people. We have been running our ever popular T15 Windsurfing club for many years and more recently have started a number of junior sailing clubs through the RYA Onboard. Initiative. We also play host to Club Antur Menai, an adventure club formed to improve opportunities for local people in North West Wales to achieve their potential through outdoor activities. For more details about the club please click here.

RYA OnBoard

Through the RYA Onboard initiative we run a number of different activities and clubs which aim to introduce sailing and windsurfing to a wider audience.

Leah Collis is the RYA Onboard Officer for North Wales and is based at Plas Menai, overseeing the management of these clubs and activities. Leah is also the Community Development Officer for Plas Menai and works with a number of organisations including the Urrd, the Outdoor Partnership and Welsh Sailing to encourage participation in outdoor and watersports activities.
