Cruising Weekend

Minimum Standard: None required

This trip is a great way to escape for a weekend and is designed to be an introduction to cruising for complete beginners or for people who have sailed before and can’t resist the lure of the sea.

Whilst the weekend is not run to an RYA certificate syllabus, instruction will be given in the basics of boat-handling, chartwork and sail handling at a level appropriate to the individuals on the course.

If you are involved in the RYA Training Scheme, please bring your logbook G15 and the instructor may be able to sign certain sections that have been completed

The sailing area will include the North Wales coastline, Anglesey and the Llýn Peninsula depending upon weather conditions.

This course is suitable for anyone who is looking for a safe and enjoyable introduction to yacht sailing. If you’ve never sailed before or are looking for a refresher course because your last sail feels like a long time ago, this is the course for you

The Yacht

The yacht you will be staying onboard, is commercially coded by RYA/MCA as category 2 compliant, which is 60 miles from a safe haven and is able to carry 6 people including the Skipper. Facilities include on-board heating, hot water and a fridge and it is equipped with Radar and GPS. The yacht has a big boat feel, wheel steering and a powerful mast head rig.

Meals Onboard

The yacht will be stocked for at least three meals a day, including snacks and drinks. If you wish to, you may bring a bottle of something to enjoy in the evenings, when you are moored up. We can cater for any special dietary requirements but please inform our bookings team before arrival, to ensure that the correct food is taken on board.

Kit and Clothing

Plas Menai will provide waterproofs and lifejackets, however you are very welcome to bring your own if you wish.

2012 Low Season Pricing

Low season rates apply between 01 Jan - 21 April 2012 and 23 September to 31 December 2012. If you are booking a course within this period the reduced rate will be applied to your course during the booking process.
