Day Skipper All-in-One

Duration: 9 Days

Course Aim: RYA Day Skipper Practical and RYA Day Skipper Theory

Minimum Standard: The minimum pre-course experience is 5 days on a yacht, including 4 nights hours and 100 miles in tidal waters.

This is an intensive nine day course combining the Shore-based and Practical RYA courses, following the syllabus. The first two days will be spent in the classroom with some work to be completed in the evenings. On Sunday evening you will board the yacht putting into practice what you have learnt in the classroom. Saturday and Sunday will be spent in the classroom to finish off the theory course.

The course will concentrate on basic pilotage, boat handling, seamanship and navigation. Upon satisfactory completion of the courses you will be awarded Shore-based and Practical Certificates.

The sailing area will include the North Wales coastline, Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula depending upon weather conditions. Please note that all harbour fees will be covered by Plas Menai.

The Yacht

The yacht you will be staying onboard, is commercially coded by RYA/MCA as category 2 compliant, which is 60 miles from a safe haven and is able to carry 6 people including the Skipper. Facilities include on-board heating, hot water and a fridge and it is equipped with Radar and GPS. The yacht has a big boat feel, wheel steering and a powerful mast head rig.

Meals Onboard

The yacht will be stocked for at least three meals a day, including snacks and drinks. If you wish to, you may bring a bottle of something to enjoy in the evenings, when you are moored up. We can cater for any special dietary requirements but please inform our bookings team before arrival, to ensure that the correct food is taken on board.

Kit and Clothing

Plas Menai will provide waterproofs and lifejackets, however you are very welcome to bring your own if you wish.

Accommodation

Accommodation and meals are included in the price for both weekends. Accommodation will be available from 4pm on the Friday evening before your course starts. Please note an evening meal is not included on the first Friday evening.
