Course Aim: RYA Seamanship Skills

Minimum Standard: You should be able to sail comfortably around a triangluar course in force 2-3 winds

As soon as you have mastered the basic in double-handers, you will want to move on and develop your boat handling skills.

During the weekend, your instructor will introduce you to technical sessions, including sailing to windward, improved tacking and gybing, boat-tuning, sail-setting and seamanship. The course will work from the RYA syllabus, 'Seamanship Skills' as oulined in RYA publication G4, The National Sailing Scheme and Logbook.

The Laser 2000 and Stratos are used for this course and, weather permitting, we'll also introduce you to some higher performance dinghies.

This course is suitable for anyone who is looking to build upon their basic sailing skills in a safe and enjoyable sailing environment. If you can already sail confidently in light winds (force 2-3), then this is the course for you.

Kit and Clothing

Plas Menai provides all necessary kit, equipment and personal protective clothing including wetsuits, buoyancy aids, cagoules and waterproofs, however you are very welcome to bring your own if you wish.

 

PLEASE NOTE

This course is Non-Residential. If you would like to book as a resident, please add the two night residential package under ‘Optional Extras’ when booking. The residential package includes two nights’ accommodation and full board for the duration of your stay.
