Learn to Sail (Crewed Dinghies) Weekend

Duration: 2 Days

Course Aim: RYA Start Sailing

Minimum Standard: None

This course is designed to give you the best possible introduction to sailing double-handed dinghies and is a bit less energetic than the single-handed option.

This very enjoyable weekend concentrates on teaching you essential basic boat handling skills to enable you to sail confidently in light winds as part of a crew in Laser Stratos or Laser 2000 dinghies.

You will sail two- or three-up and have an instructor onboard for most of the weekend to help you learn the basics.

The weekend will follow the RYA syllabus for the Start Sailing course as outlined in the RYA Dinghy Sailing Beginners handbook (Ref:G4) and over the course of the weekend you will become familiar with all aspects of basic dinghy sailing; tacking, gybing, general crewing duties and helming on all points of sail.

Relevant theory topics will also be included along the way, covering basic weather, tides, safety and capsize routines.

This course is suitable for anyone who is looking for a safe and enjoyable introduction to sailing. If you have never sailed before or are looking for a refresher course because your last sail feels like a long time ago, then this is the course for you.
