Performance Sailing Weekend

Course Aim: RYA Performance Sailing

Minimum Standard: You should already have competent boat-handling skills, with at least a season of sailing experience and be upto at least Basic Skills level.

This weekend course is an excellent introduction to performance sailing and it covers the RYA syllabus for ‘Performance Sailing’ as outlined in the RYA publication G4, The National Sailing Scheme Syllabus and Logbook.

During the course you will sail many of the centres dinghies including single-handers and asymmetric double-handers. You will work on many aspects of dinghy sailing from improving your present skills with roll tacking and gybing sessions, to introducing new skills; rigging, tuning, teamwork, trapezing, hiking, turning corners, downwind sailing, advanced seamanship skills and asymmetric or symmetrical spinnakers

You’ll have the opportunity to sail a range of dinghies including the RS 200, RS 400, Laser 2000, Laser Vago, Laser Stratos, RS 800 and single-handers

The aim of this course is to improve your sailing, to sail faster and more confidently and efficiently in all conditions. You should be a competent sailor in moderate wind conditions with previous experience of more high performance dinghies and dinghy racing.

Kit and Clothing

Plas Menai provides all necessary kit, equipment and personal protective clothing including wetsuits, buoyancy aids, cagoules and waterproofs, however you are very welcome to bring your own if you wish

This course is Non-Residential. If you would like to book as a resident, please add the two night residential package under ‘Optional Extras’ when booking. The residential package includes two nights’ accommodation and full board for the duration of your stay.
