RYA Advanced Instructor Endorsement

Course Aim: Advanced Instructor Endorsement
Minimum Standard: For this course you must have a high personal level of sailing skiills, being familiar with dinghies equipped with asymmetric and symmetrical spinnakers and have some trapezing experience.
Dinghy sailing has changed an enormous amount in the last decade and small fast boats with asymmetric spinnakers are now commonplace. Instructing in these dinghies brings a different set of challenges and rewards.
This course should provide you with the skills to teach both Sailing with Spinnakers and Performance Sailing. What we will endeavour to do during this weekend is both ensure that candidates are familiar with the techniques involved in sailing the various dinghies and to be aware of the methods used to teach in these craft and the methods of group control.
G14 shows the 4 parts making up the course with roughly half a day allocated to each one. The course will be run by a coach and will be as practical as possible. Sessions include how to develop crew work, boat handling skills, spinnakers and asymmetrics, trapezing, rudderless sailing, advanced seamanship and navigation.
You will need to bring your G14 logbook and a copy of your current first aid qualification. You will also need to familiarise yourself with the Advanced Instructor section of G14 and the Performance Sailing and Sailing with Spinnakers awards in G4.
Your personal level of sailing in a variety of craft will need to be high to enable useful coaching to take place.
Kit and Clothing
Plas Menai provides all necessary kit, equipment and personal protective clothing including wetsuits, buoyancy aids, cagoules and waterproofs, however you are very welcome to bring your own if you wish
