RYA Keelboat Instructor Endorsement
Duration: 2 Days
Course Aim: Keelboat Instructor Endorsement
Minimum Standard: You must be a confident keelboat sailor with experience of sailing keelboats with symmetric and asymmetric spinnakers.
This course is run over two days and shows you how to adapt your exisiting skills to teaching in keelboats.
The course will be run using the centre’s J80 Keelboats but during your careers as sailing instructors you mgiht be asked to teach on many different craft from ‘Drascombe’ type day boats to small cruisers. The RYA generally regards the distinction between keelboats and cruisers as being the fact that cruising courses are generally run on board the boat and on keelboat courses the boat is not used for accommodation. Generally the boats will be less than 26ft.
G14 shows the 4 parts making up the course with roughly half a day allocated to each one. The course will be run by a coach and will be as practical as possible.
Over the course of the weekend participants will also be expected to demonstrate their own personal Keelboat sailing ability.
You will need to bring your G14 logbook and a copy of your current first aid qualification.
