Kayak Improver Weekend

Duration: 2 Days

Course Aim: Training towards BCU 2 Star

Minimum Standard: at least 5 coached days paddling i.e. Completed a 5 day learn to kayak or learn to sea kayak type course. Completed 3 weekend learn to kayak or learn to sea kayak type courses. If you are unsure if you have the sufficient skills for this course please contact the centre and talk to one of our instructors.

The aim of the course is to continue to develop good efficient paddling techniques with an emphasis on practical applications in a variety of locations. In this respect, our proximity to both white water and sea paddling locations adds greatly to the scope of this course. There may also be an opportunity over the weekend to spend a session in our heated pool developing rolling techniques.

By the end of the weekend you should have gained greater confidence in your kayaking skills and be ready to progress to greater independence in the sport.

This course attracts the widest variety of paddlers, from people returning to the sport after some time away, to regular paddlers who wish to develop more advanced techniques. To ensure reasonable compatibility within the group, we would expect at least a week’s paddling experience and the ability to paddle competently on flat water. If you have only been paddling a couple of times or haven’t paddled for years, you should book onto the Learn to Kayak course.
