Course Aim: RYA Advanced Powerboat

Minimum Standard: RYA Intermediate Powerboat or be at the equivalent standard; Have a thorough knowledge of navigation and chartwork i.e. Day Skipper Theory level; It is strongly recommended that you also hold a First Aid certificate and VHF Licence

This two-day course will develop your skills and backgrounds knowledge in handling a powerboat safely in rough conditions and in darkness. During the weekend, sessions will be run on boat handling, seamanship, pilotage and navigation in more demanding coastal waters.

The course will be run in small planing boats, with a passage to be made after dark, so be prepared for lower temperatures and high wind chill. Although the course will be as practical as possible, the nature of the course calls for some theory work and trip planning.

By the end of the weekend you should achieve the RYA Advanced Powerboat course completion certificate.
