RYA Intermediate Powerboat

Course Aim: RYA Intermediate Powerboat

Minimum Standard: RYA Powerboat Level 2 or be at the equivalent standard, with some experience of coastal/tidal waters

This two day course follows on from the National Powerboat Certificate. We will develop your basic driving skills in more complex situations and weather permiting, include an introduction to rough water boat handling.

You’ll be introduced to basic navigation and pilotage, as well as planning a day trip. Sessions will also be run on the use of compasses, GPS and VHF radio, personal safety and dealing with emergency situations such as engine failure, fire and recovering someone who has fallen overboard.

The tidal waters offer a range of conditions and challenges for those looking to improve their powerboating skills and this course is suitable for anyone wanting to build upon current powerboat driving skills.

You should be able to achieve the RYA Powerboat Intermediate certificate, weather conditions permitting.

Kit and Clothing

Plas Menai supplies a range of technical equipment including waterproofs and buoyancy aids. However you are very welcome to bring your own if you wish.

 

PLEASE NOTE

This course is Non-Residential. If you would like to book as a resident, please add the two night residential package under ‘Optional Extras’ when booking. The residential package includes two nights’ accommodation and full board for the duration of your stay.
