RYA Radar

Duration: 1 Day

Course Aim: RYA Radar

Minimum Standard: None

This one day course will give you an understanding of radar as an aid to navigation and collision avoidance. Cruising boats increasingly have radar on board and, under the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea, you must know how to use it.

Although Radar is one of the most versatile of all electronic navigation aids, the best results are obtained when you know to use all the functions correctly.

The course will cover;

  • how the radar set works
  • how its adjustments and features affect the way it works
  • target definition
  • radar reflectors
  • types of radar display
  • radar plotting
  • the use of radar in navigation and collision avoidance

This course is Non-Residential. If you would like to book as a resident, please add the one night residential package under ‘Optional Extras’ when booking. The residential package includes one nights’ accommodation breakfast and a packed lunch.
