Field Trips

The rich geology, geography (human and physical), biology and history of North West Wales has long made the area a popular location for field trips.

The location of Plas Menai, makes it an ideal central base from which to explore and study the local area, including Snowdonia, Anglesey and the historic towns of Caernarfon and Beaumaris, both of which boast World Heritage listed Castles.

Some popular topics for field studies within the local area include:- 

  • Coastal processes and management
  • The geography and history of slate mining
  • Flora, Fauna and of Snowdonnia
  • Glaciated landscapes and rivers
  • Energy Production (nulcear, tidal, wind, hydro-electric)
  • Tourism and the impact on the natural environment

Facilities

Plas Menai offers a choice of comfortable accommodation in twin-bedded ensuite rooms in the main centre complex or dormitory style rooms in our onsite houses.

We have a number of classrooms of various sizes available for your use, which include resources such as white boards, flip charts and projectors

With an extensive range of water and land-based activities available at the Centre, consider adding a half day or day of activities to your programme. This can easily be arranged through our bookings team.
