This five day course has been developed for DofE participants wishing to complete their Gold Qualifying Expedition onboard a yacht.

On Monday the group will complete final preparations for their Qualifying Expedition, including final route planning taking into consideration the local tides and weather forecast. They will also stock and prepare the yacht for departure on Tuesday.

It is not possible for remote supervision to be undertaken on yacht-based expeditions at Plas Menai. Therefore a Skipper will be onboard for the duration of the week, who will also act as the DofE Accredited Assessor for the expedition to minimise intervention.

The yacht will depart on Tuesday and return to the Centre on Friday afternoon, where the students will be debriefed by the Assessor.

Please note:It is expected that anyone wanting to undertake this Gold Qualifying Expedition will have the required level of skill and experience necessary to manage a yacht.
