And for those looking for something a little less energetic there are plenty of places to see and visit, from the two World Heritage listed castles of Caernarfon and Beaumaris, to the fabulous Slate Museum in Llanberis, Italinate village of Portmerion and stunning Bodnant Gardens, the local area really does offer something for everybody.
Snowdonia National Park
Plas Menai is located only a short drive from Snowdonia National Park. Snowdonia is home to 90 mountain peaks including Mount Snowdon (Eryri in Welsh) the tallest mountain in England and Wales. The national park boasts 100 lakes and 37 miles of pristine coastline and beaches. The spectacular scenery and the diverse range of activities on offer attract thousands of outdoor enthusiasts to the area each year.
Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn)
Ynys Môn in Welsh, the Isle of Anglesey is connected to the mainland by two magnificent bridges which span the Menai Strait and mark the world famous ‘Swellies’ a stretch of fast flowing tidal waters. Rich in history, Anglesey is home to a range of museums, galleries and heritage sites, including the World heritage site of Beaumaris castle. Bangor and Caernarfon
Plas Menai is situated between the University city of Bangor and the historic town of Caernarfon. You will find banks, a post office and high street shops in both locations. There are also a number of retail parks on the outskirts of Bangor. The nearest supermarket to Plas Menai is Morrisons approximately 2 miles away in Caernarfon. Bangor hosts a Tesco Extra and both Caernarfon and Bangor offer an excellent choice of restaurants, cafes and bars.
