Plas Menai, the National Outdoor Centre for Wales is perfectly situated for the ultimate outdoor adventure, situated on the banks of the Menai Strait, conveniently placed between Bangor and Caernarfon, on the North Wales coast. The Centre is only a short drive from the Snowdonia National Park and overlooks the Isle of Anglesey.

Plas Menai is owned and managed by Sport Wales, the Centre has been inspiring people to experience the outdoors for over 35 years, and we pride ourselves on our professional, friendly and flexible approach to all our customers.

The Centre is a recognised RYA and BCU training centre and offers technical courses and instructor training in dinghy sailing, windsurfing, powerboating, cruising, kayaking, courses range from beginner to advanced.

In addition to our extensive programme of instructor training courses, we offer our flagship 16 week and 22-week Multi-Watersports Instructor course, perfect for anyone wanting to gain the right qualifications to break into the outdoor industry.

During the holidays Plas Menai runs a variety of action-packed activity days, family adventure weekends and youth adventure holiday camps for children aged between 8-17yrs. The centre also runs adventure activities for schools, groups and teambuilding events.

The centre operates a weekend adventure activity club, Menai Dragons, it is aimed at 8-17yr olds and is all about having fun outdoors, learning new skills, developing confidence and making lots of new friends along the way.

Plas Menai also operate water rescue training courses throughout the year, for organisation that has employees who spend time working in or around the water, it is important they are suitably trained and hold relevant qualifications and that team members are well versed and rehearsed in how to deal with an often developing situation.

As the National Outdoor Centre our role is to ‘Promote the benefits of life long participation in the outdoors’ and our mission is to ‘Unleash the power of adventure’, our range of adventurous activities aims to deliver this, from a person’s first experience through to becoming an instructor and working in the outdoors.
