Instructional Development Programme
Plas Menai offers paid work placements of between 6 and 11 months providing you with valuable experience and additional outdoor instructor qualifications.
The programme is open to anyone who holds at least one water-based instructor qualification. It includes a PAID monthly living allowance and full board and accommodation.

Plas Menai is the Sport Wales National Outdoor Centre for Wales. We have been training Watersports Instructors for over 30 years. Many have gone on to work within the industry, both in the UK and further afield as well as some of the biggest UK National Governing Bodies for Sport.
We are currently recruiting keen and enthusiastic people who are looking for a personal development opportunity which could lead to a career in the Outdoor Adventurous Activity industry. This is a paid programme that also includes an element of personal development, on the job experience and the opportunity of gaining more industry recognised qualifications.
Programme Hours – the programme is flexible and you will receive an allowance to cover the hours that you work. Initially the programme will run for 6 months with the possibility of it being extended for a further 6 months if you have demonstrated the correct attitude and gained the correct qualifications.
Full board accommodation is available on-site at a preferential rate.

Casual Pool Lifeguard and Swimming Instructors
Casual Pool Lifeguard – (£8.90p/h) & Swimming Instructors (£12.48p/h)
Location: Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre, Caernarfon, North Wales.
Plas Menai is the Sport Wales National Outdoor Centre for Wales, offering outdoor activities, sailing courses, powerboating, windsurfing, kayaking and much more. We also run a busy programme of outdoor activities for schools, groups, adults, children and the local community. We have a busy programme of National Governing Body and professional qualifications in the outdoors, as well as professional development and team building courses and conferences that attracts over 17,000 participant days annually.
We are looking for suitably qualified Pool Lifeguards and Swimming Instructors to join our busy swimming pool team on a casual/on call basis to cover staff holiday and sickness.
In this role, you will supervise the swimming pool and provide swimming instruction to children and adults in accordance with the centre’s Normal Operating Procedures. You will ensure the Swimming Pool area is maintained to the highest standards and provide a safe and fun environment for our customers.
You must be over 18 years of age and as a Lifeguard it is essential that you hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and have up to date IQL refresher training logged. As a swimming instructor you should have a UKCC L2 Certificate in Coaching or Teaching Aquatics.
Due to the nature of this post the ability to be able to speak in Welsh is considered desirable.
