Instructional Development Programme
Plas Menai offers paid work placements of between 6 and 11 months providing you with valuable experience and additional outdoor instructor qualifications.
The programme is open to anyone who holds at least one water-based instructor qualification. It includes a PAID monthly living allowance and full board and accommodation. Find more information here.
During busy periods we do use freelance instructors. If you would like to be considered as part of our freelance instructor pool, please contact the Centre on 0300 300 3112 and ask for the Operations Manager or Chief Instructor.

Activity Instructor – Plas Menai
Salary:£22,174.92 – £24,447.85 per annum
Hours: Post 1: 37 hours per week (8 Month Permanent Contract April – November)
Post 2: 37 hours per week (8 Month Fixed Term Contract April – November 2020)
Location: Plas Menai, Caernarfon

The Sport Wales National Outdoor Centre, Plas Menai is situated on the banks of the Menai Straits, a stone’s throw from Snowdonia National Park and the stunning coastline of Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsular. The Centre has been delivering a range of water and land-based activities for over 35 years and trains individuals who go on to work in the industry across the world.
We have two opportunities for new seasonal instructors to join our instructional team. We have one permanent contract and a one year fixed-term contract available.
You will possess at least 2 seasons experience working in the outdoor industry and hold at least three National Governing Body Instructional/Coaching qualifications (for example):
You will also need to be able to work alone as well as being a team player, have excellent communication skills and be able to evidence continuous professional development and have a passion for the outdoors.
