The Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Boat Operator training course is intended for emergency services or rescue teams who are required to carry out rescues in a swiftwater or flood environment. The course develops your capability for handling boats on fast moving rivers and in flash flood conditions, whilst considering at all times self-protection and the application of low to risk high solutions in dealing with developing emergency situations.

Clothing: Plas Menai will provide you with all necessary clothing including drysuits, boots, buoyancy aids and helmets for the duration of your course, but please bring with you plenty of warm clothing, including hats and gloves.

Key learning points: Launching and recovery, dynamic risk assessment, scope of operations, pre and post trip checks, boat handling under power and with paddles, anchoring, towing, casualty pick up, casualty management, man overboard and recovery and boat maintenance.
