We have successfully opened the pool for some early morning adult lessons and recreational swimming and we now feel the time is right to offer some youth swimming lessons. We are opening these sessions to those in lessons who can swim lengths comfortably in order to minimise the risk of contact and rescue from the staff.
We will be running sessions limited to groups of 8. Unfortunately we are not allowed to run lessons where the Instructor has to be in the water, or open our changing rooms but we do have a successful system whereby the swimmers arrive “beach ready” with costumes under easy to take off clothes so they can undress on poolside at one of our changing bays.
We can then comfortably maintain social distancing, following a one-way system to be able to structure lessons in lanes.
After the sessions, the swimmers will need to quickly dry off and dress into dry robes or tracksuits on poolside to be able to leave and get fully changed/showered at home.
We do know this system is less than ideal and we would love to open the changing rooms but current guidelines to keep everyone safe simply don’t allow it.
We also totally understand that not everyone is comfortable with these arrangements, or returning to lessons just yet. We want to reassure you that if you choose not to take a place right now we won’t “strike you off” the list and will look forward to welcoming you back to the pool when circumstances are different.
We are following strict Covid policies at the centre and things are a little different. We will need an adult to stay onsite but in the car. In order to minimise the risk and number of people entering the building, the viewing area is currently closed.
In the event of us needing to cancel due to Covid or if swimmers have to self-isolate or have symptoms we will either refund or credit the lessons to the next block in the new year, whichever is preferable.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN YOU BOOK WITH PLAS MENAI NATIONAL OUTDOOR CENTRE
Plas Menai fully supports the government guidelines on the current Covid-19 situation. Following Government advice, we have everything in place to operate safely and follow these guidelines, you can find the additional information on the pool re-opening HERE.
Our changing rooms will not be in use during this period, we are therefore asking all swimmers to come “Beach Ready”
What do we mean by Beach Ready:
• Please shower at home before your swim
• Come ready changed(costume under clothing)
• Changing rooms & showers not available after swimming
• Bring a dry robe or similar to go home in
• Storage boxes will be available on poolside to keep towels, clothing and car keys, please avoid bringing valuables such as purses, wallets and mobile phones into the building.
ALL SESSIONS MUST BE PRE-BOOKED
