Learn to sail on this enjoyable five day cruising course where both the RYA Competent Crew and the RYA Day Skipper courses run alongside each other.
PLEASE NOTE: We are running the Comp Crew/Day Skipper over 3 weekends in May and September, so no problem if you don't want to take time off work!

RYA Competent Crew: This course is aimed at beginners and those who want to become an active crew member rather than just a passenger.
RYA Day Skipper: This course is aimed at aspiring skippers with some yachting experience and basic navigation and sailing skills.
Key learning points: The yacht, getting underway, rules of the road, sail handling, helmsmanship, pilotage, navigation, man overboard recovery, clothing, equipment, emergency equipment and precautions, engine maintenance, passage planning, night sailing and meteorology
All our instructors are highly knowledgeable and experienced skippers and will ensure you really get the most out of your time onboard.
Meals onboard: The boat will be stocked to provide three meals per day as well as snacks and drinks. If you have any special dietary requirements please note them when booking.
The Yacht: 38ft Hanse 385. Commercially coded by RYA/MCA as category 2 compliant the yacht can carry 6 people including the Skipper. Facilities onboard include; heating, hot water, cooker, fridge, toilet, Radar, GPS and AIS.
Arrival: All our week cruising courses begin at 8.00pm on the Sunday evening. A meal is included on Sunday and is served between 5.30-7pm in the dining room. Please meet your skipper in Reception at 8pm, where you will be given a short briefing, and be issued with waterproofs before driving down to the yacht, moored at Port Dinorwic, 5 minutes away from the Centre. You will stay onboard the yacht for all five nights of your course.
Please bring with you; warm clothes, a sleeping bag and sailing wellies (not black soled)
The Next Steps: If you want to progress your cruising, then those taking the RYA Competent Crew course should look at progressing to RYA Day Skipper level. It is recommended you complete the RYA Day Skipper Theory before undertaking the RYA Day Skipper practical certificate. For those completing the RYA Day Skipper certificate you should build up your hours and experience and theoretical knowledge up to RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory level before considering the RYA Coastal Skipper practical course.
