Learn the basics of big boat sailing on this RYA Start Yachting weekend course, the perfect introduction to cruising. Discover what it is like to live onboard, and by the end of the weekend you should be familiar with basic steering, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety onboard.
Key learning points: The yacht, getting underway, rules of the road, man overboard recovery, clothing, equipment, emergency equipment and precautions and metreology
Meals onboard: The boat will be stocked to provide three meals per day as well as snacks and drinks. If you have any special dietary requirements please note them when booking.
The Yacht: 38ft Hanse 385. Commercially coded by RYA/MCA as category 2 compliant the yacht can carry 6 people including the Skipper. Facilities onboard include; heating, hot water, cooker, fridge, toilet, Radar, GPS and AIS.
Arrival: All our weekend cruising courses begin at 8.00pm on the Friday evening. Please arrive in time to meet your skipper in Reception at 8pm, where you will be given a short briefing, and be issued with waterproofs before driving down to the yacht, moored at Port Dinorwic, 5 minutes away from the Centre. You will stay onboard the yacht for both nights of your course.
Please bring with you; warm clothes, a sleeping bag and sailing wellies (not black soled)
